Rarotonga

 Rarotonga

BANG,CRASH,THUMP! we have landed in Rarotonga we hopped on a bus and it took us to Edge-water Resort there we unpacked our bags in a room called a villa we were villa 15.
We stayed there for 8 days and went snorkeling a lot and saw huge fish and eels. To be honest I was a little scared when I found a green eel because it kept on following me. My highlight of Rarotonga was going on a glass bottom boat when we swung on a really long rope that went over the water and coconut climbing.
I can't wait to go back to Rarotonga!

Weird science!

On the 15th of November on Friday we did some weird science and this is what we did...

First we put baking soda in a balloon and put vinaga into a small bottle then we placed the balloon on top of the bottle and shock all the baking soda into the bottle of vinaga and then it created gas and so much pressure that it blow up the balloon to its full size and then we gently took the balloon off the top of the bottle and let it go fly in the air!

For our second experiment we got a mini canister and put vinaga in it and got a little zip lock snack bag and saler-taped it all up and put backing soda inside the bag and placed the canister in the bag as well and saler-taped the top up to make sure the gas can't escape, then we shock it up and it blow up and got bigger and bigger then exploded all over me because of the pressure of gas from the vinaga and baking soda!

Then for our last experiment we got a plastic bottle and put 5 holes in the lid and got vinaga and filled the bottle with vinaga about 3 quarters of the way and got a zip lock snack bag and cut the corner off and put baking soda in it and stuffed it in the bottle and quickly put the lid on tight and then all the vinaga and baking soda came out the lid like a sprinkler from the pressure and we all stood under it and got durty but still had alot of fun and it was cool having all our experiments worked this time!

Tennis

Tennis

Every Wednesday for the past Three weeks room 15 have been doing tennis.
A couple of things I learnt was volley. You have one person at the net with a racket  and you only hit with a softly into the opponents side and try to make it double bounce. If you do you will get a point.
Her is a photo of me playing tennis with my friends.
Can you guess if I hit the ball or not?

Reflection on Blogging

If I were to tell a class to do blogging I would tell them that blogging is really cool because you get to comment on other peoples blogs all over the world and you get to share your learning with others and they could help you make it better.

To make a good comment you must say something nice about their work and maybe ask a question so you can continue the conversation and even say something that will make their work better.

What I like about blogging is that you get to know what other classes do around the world because they might do different things to us and you get to find out what work they do.

What helps me with my learning with blogging is that you can get feed back and feed forward for your learning and they might say something that could help you with your learning or make it better.

I think blogging is great the way it is and I don't think we should make any changes.

Algebra

For maths we are doing algebra.  Today for algebra we had a problem solving activity involving a shortage of tent pegs.  Here is the problem.
The youth group are having a camp. they needed to put up tents for each team. Usually it takes eight large pegs to hold up each of their tents. This time they have a problem. They are very short on large tent pegs.

Leader: "Find some ways to put up tents that will save pegs" (Talking to the groups).

We had to work with a classmate to find a least three ways to put up ten tents.  Then we had to find out which of the ways used the least amount of pegs.

Emily and I made a way that only used 39 pegs but then Brooke came and looked at our layout and suggested that we could take some pegs away and join them to others.  Our second layout came to 36 pegs. The white bits of paper is the tents and the green counters are the pegs.  We had the least amount of pegs in the end and some people got up to 60 pegs altogether.

Lee Lee the Sumatran Tiger Project

Sumatran Tiger Project

In the holidays we had to complete a task and that task was to research about the Sumatran Tiger because in Indonesia Mrs Parkinson bought a cute little plush toy that was a Sumatran Tiger and we had to find out all about the tiger so we knew about our new mascot.
We also had to make a background story to say how Lee Lee the Sumatran Tiger came to Vardon school.
The part I most enjoyed was getting to know all about the Sumatran Tiger and making a cool project and mine was a book and I also enjoyed making the story about her.
The most challenging part was putting all the facts together and to think of a background story that describes how Lee Lee got here but in the end I figured it out all right.
